After the restoration of the Temple we were asked to restore the façade of the two gate lodges that had suffered subsidence, broken stone lintels and missing coade stone freizes and decayed internal lintels. The contract involved replacing carved stone window jambs, heads and coade stone embellishments, re-building doorways , filling in openings, re-setting loose brickwork, removing cement render, cutting by hand 1200 matching non structural bricks with a bed joint of 2-3mm then polishing and hand rubbing the brickwork to the original finish. |
